His father was Joseph Josiah Mosher, born September 1866 in Canada, and his mother was Lillian Cowell, born 31 July 1878 in England. They lived at Monroe, Mich. Joseph was a factory worker. Joseph and Lillian were members of the Baptist Church They had three sons: (1) *Joseph E., (2) Raymond J., and (3) Basil K. Joseph Mosher died 17 February 1940 and Lillian died 16 July 1950; burial at Roselawn Cemetery, LaSalle, Michigan.

Minnie Rachel Stoltz was born 11 December 1879 in Lick Prairie Precinct, Wabash County, Illinois, is the daughter of Andrew Stoltz and Josephine Seitz. See Number 642. Minnie attended the Beech Bluff grade school and the Presbyterian Church at Old Union near her home.
Minnie Stoltz married Percy Stallings 15 July 1899 in Wayne County, Ill. Percy Stallings was born 19 November 1878 at Poseyville, Indiana. Percy Stallings was the son of Moses Stallings, born 31 October 1851 in Indiana and Elizabeth Kight, born 11 July 1851 at New Harmony, Indiana. Percy's grandfather was William Stallings, born in 1815 in North Carolina and his grandmother was Mary Ann Johnson born in 1816. William and Mary Ann Stallings moved from North Carolina to Posey County, Indiana. William's father, Elisha Stallings fought in the Revolutionary War of 1775. About 1890 Moses and Elizabeth Stallings moved from Posey County, Indiana, to Jasper Township, Wayne County, near Fairfield, Illinois. Moses was an undertaker and furniture store owner. Moses and Elizabeth Stallings had ten children the first seven born in Posey County, Indiana: (1) Stella, born 31 December 1876, (2) *Percy, (3) Ernest, born 20 January 1882, (4) Elsie, born 21 December 1883, (5) Leslie, born 4 may 1886, (6) Arthur, born 19 August 1887, (7) William Thomas, born 31 December 1889. The last three children were born in Leech Township, Wayne County, Illinois: (8) Ralph Wilbur, born 6 May 1892, (9) Leonard, born 7 December 1893 and (10) Clyde, born 8 August 1897. Clyde died young. Elizabeth Stallings died 22 November 899; burial at Ebenezer Church Cemetery, Wayne County, Illinois. Moses Stallings married second Clara Frazer, a school teacher. Some time later the family left Wayne County and moved to near Conway, Missouri where Moses took up farming. Moses died 22 November 1899; burial at Conway, Missouri. Moses and Clara had no children.
Percy and Minnie Stallings lived near Golden Gate, Illinois, on a farm in a log house about one-half mile from Minnie's father, Andrew Stoltz, who gave her the land when she married Percy. Percy was a carpenter and built the log house they lived in. Percy was also a water-well driller and a saw mill operator. Percy and Minnie had four children all born near Merriam and Golden Gate, Illinois.

Minnie Rachel died of an infection secondary to the mumps 25 May 1905; burial at Union Cemetery, Wayne County, Illinois. Minnie Rachel Stallings was a member of the Ebenezer Methodist Church. Upon Minnie's death, all four of her children were taken by her parents, Andrew and Josephine Stoltz, to care for. The children stayed with their grandparents for about a year and a half until their father remarried.
Percy Stallings married second Mary May Stoltz 11 November 1906 at her father's home in Lick Prairie Precinct, Wabash County, Illinois. Mary Stoltz was born 29 June 1880 in Wabash County, Illinois. She was a first cousin to Percy's first wife. Her parents were Jacob Stoltz and Hattie Dixon. See Number 6491. Mary attended Stoltz School and Nye Chapel Church.
Percy and Mary Stallings stayed in Wayne County, Illinois, until 1911 when they moved to near Albion, Illinois, and eventually moved to Friendsville Illinois. Here Percy and his brother operated a machine shop and garage for automotive repair. Percy and Mary Stallings had six children: (1) Ernest Ezekiel, born 30 October 1909 in Wayne County, Illinois, (2) Stella Izola, born 13 May 1911 near Albion, Illinois, (3) Hattie Gladys, born 23 June 1912 near Albion. Hattie died 1 February 1919 during the flu epidemic; burial at Gards Point Cemetery, Nye Chapel Church, Wabash County, Ill. (4) Beulah Opal, born 17 March 1914, Wabash County, Illinois, (5) Roy Percy, born 16 August 1915, Wabash County, Illinois, and (6) Mary Lucille, born 14 June 1917 in Wabash County. Mary died 11 October 1917; burial at Gards Point Cemetery. Mary (Stoltz) Stallings died 3 January 1946; burial at Highland Cemetery, Mt. Carmel, Illinois. See Number 649, Jacob Stoltz, for Mary and Percy's lineage. Percy died 21 December 1952; burial at Highland Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Carmel, Illinois.

64231. ETTA GENEVA STALLINGS
Etta Geneva Stallings was born 20 June 1900 in a log cabin near Golden Gate, Wayne County, Illinois, is the daughter of Percy Stallings and Minnie Rachel Stoltz. See Number 6423.
Etta attended public schools in Wayne, Edwards, and Wabash Counties. She last attended school at Stoltz School. She also attended the Nye Chapel United Brethren Church when a young girl. When Etta was eighteen years of age, she and her sister Crystal went to East St. Louis where they found employment at the National City Hotel as waitresses and maids. Here Etta met Lecil Westly Kemp, a railroader.
Etta and Lecil Westly Kemp were married 6 December 1920 at East St. Louis, Illinois. Lecil Kemp was born 3 December 1886 at Dewitt, Arkansas. Lecil's father was James Marion Kemp, born 1854 in Mississippi, and his mother was Katherine Lee Simpson, born 3 August 1867 in Illinois. James was a farmer. James Kemp first married Frances Elizabeth Kennedy of Dewitt, Arkansas and they had one child, Kenneth Kemp, born in 1882 and died 11 July 1975 in Florida. He married Lola Holliday and they had ten children, most of them living in Florida.
After the death of Frances Elizabeth, James Kemp married Katherine Lee Simpson. They had three children: (1) *Lecil Westly, (2) Byron (died young), (3) Jessie L. (died in 1914). James Marion Kemp died around 1894 in DeWitt, Arkansas. After his death, his wife Katherine married Oscar Lee Kennedy, born 18 June 1864 in Arkansas. He was a farmer and fur trapper. From this marriage were born five children: (1) Otis, died in infancy, (2) John Will, (3) *Mark Glen. Mark Glenn married Etta (Stallings) Kemp's sister, Crystal Stallings. (4) Stella May (Allen), deceased, and (5) Ada Zelpha (Edwards), deceased. Oscar died 10 September 1937 and Katherine Lee (Simpson) Kemp Kennedy died 11 December 1954. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Oscar and Katherine are buried at Garden Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Bakersfield, California.
Shortly after their marriage, Lecil and Etta Kemp, together with her sister Crystal, moved to Selma, California. Lecil died 18 December 1961. Etta lives with her daughter, Donna Sommer, at Bakersfield, California. She is a member of the Methodist Church. Lecil and Etta Kemp had six children.

Mark's father was Oscar Lee Kennedy, born 18 June 1864 in Arkansas, and his mother was Katherine Lee Simpson Kemp Kennedy, born 3 August 1867 in Illinois. She was first married to James Marion Kemp, father of Lecil Westly Kemp who married Crystal's sister Etta. See Number 64231 additional information.

Newberry, born 15 January 1868 in Crawford County, Indiana, and her mother was Ona Frances Williams, born 3 January 1871 in Indiana. Anna had a half-brother, Louis Newberry (deceased) and a half-sister, Gertrude Alexander, who lives in Terre Haute, Indiana. Anna's father, Jacob Newberry, was a farmer near Golden Gate, Illinois. He was a member of the Christian Church. Jay Bowen died 22 May 1962; burial at Flora, Illinois. Florence Bowen lives at Flora and is a member of the Christian Church. Jay and Florence Bowen had three children: (1) Juanita (Sobell), (2) *Betty Dean (Stallings), and (3) Norma (Kittle). Betty and Norma are twins.

64234. MINNIE ELIZABETH STALLINGS
Minnie Elizabeth Stallings was born 8 August 1904 in a log house near Golden Gate, Wayne County, Illinois, is the daughter of Percy Stallings and Minnie Rachel Stoltz. See Number 6423. Minnie's mother died when she was only eight months old. Minnie and the other three children were taken by their grandparents Andrew and Josephine Stoltz to care for until their father remarried. Percy Stallings married second Mary May Stoltz, a first cousin to Minnie's mother. Mary May Stoltz was the daughter of Jacob Stoltz. Percy and Mary had six children: (1) Ernest Ezekiel, (2) Stella Izola, (3) Hattie Gladys, (4) Beulah Opal, (5) Roy Percy, and (6) Mary Lucille (died in infancy). See Number 6491 for Percy and Mary's family.
Minnie attended rural public schools in Wayne, Edwards and Wabash Counties in Illinois. She last attended Stoltz School, Stoltz Prairie, Wabash County, Illinois. She is pictured in, a Stoltz School class on page 422, Branch II. Minnie left home at an early age and worked in the homes of other families. One family for whom she worked was the family of William and Stella Litherland who lived on a farm south of Friendsville Illinois. On 28 January 1919, Stella Litherland died from childbirth, Stella Avada (Craig) Litherland was born 19 December 1891 at Hutsonville, Illinois. Her infant daughter Wilma Fern died at birth 27 January 1919. Both are buried in the same casket at Gards Point Cemetery, Nye Chapel Church, Wabash County, Illinois. Stella's father was William Lee Craig, born 24 September 1868, and her mother was Rosa Bell Rhoden, born 19 July 1872; both born in Edgar County, Illinois. William Craig died 1 February 1955 and Rosa died 30 March 1956; burial at Highland Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Carmel, Illinois. William and Rosa Craig had seven children: (1) *Stella Avada (Litherland), (2) Otho Ancil, (3) Zona Pearl (Gilmore), (4) Wyatt Leslie, (5) Lena May (Michels), (6) Lester William, and (7) Roy Glen. William Lee Craig's father was Benjamin Franklin Craig and his mother was Elizabeth Downing. They were from Kentucky. Rosa Bell Craig's father was W. B. Rhoden and her mother was Nancy Ferris.
After the death of Stella Litherland, Minnie Stallings continued to keep house and care for William Litherland and his three year old son, Loren. On 8 April 1922 Minnie Stallings and William Leonard Litherland were married at Mt. Carmel, Illinois. William Litherland was born 11 April 1887 in Lick Prairie Precinct, Wabash County, Illinois. William's father was Joshua Litherland born 22 April 1850 in Friendsville Precinct, Wabash County, Illinois, and his mother was Louisa. Broedel Knell, born 1 February 1848 in Wabash County, Ill. Joshua was a farmer. He purchased the original homestead farm of Johann Adam Stoltz from the estate of Johann Adam's son, George Johann Stoltz. This farm is now owned by Minnie Litherland and her heirs. William Litherland had an older half-sister (1) Lillian Knell who married William Chapman; two older sisters (2) Ellen who married Matt C. Kortge, and (3) Bertha who died at age 9 or 10 and is buried at Gards Point Cemetery, Nye Chapel Church. Lillian, Ellen, Bertha, and William are pictured in a Stoltz School class, page 509. Joshua Litherland died 12 September 1926 and his wife Louisa died 8 December 1921; burial is at Gards Point Cemetery.
William and Minnie Litherland continued to live on a rented farm south of Friendsville, Illinois, for a few years, then moved to Stoltz Prairie on his father's farm, which was the original Johann Adam Stoltz homestead, E. 1/2 of S.E. 1/2 (80 acres) of Section 20, Lick Prairie Precinct, Wabash County, Illinois. William and Minnie lived on the farm until William's death 24 January 1966. He is buried at Gards Point Cemetery, Nye Chapel Church, Wabash County, Illinois.
William Litherland was a successful farmer. He raised grain and specialized in feeding beef cattle. He was a faithful member of the Nye Chapel United Brethren Church,. William also served several terms on the Board of Directors for Stoltz School. Since William's death, Minnie has left the. farm and now resides with her daughter at St. Petersburg, Florida. She visits her stepson and family relatives in Wabash County often. William and Minnie Litherland had only one child, a daughter, but Minnie was more than a stepmother to William's son Loren as she had taken care of him since his birth.

Loren Melvin Litherland  born 7 June 1916 in Wabash County, Illinois, about two miles south of Friendsville. Loren is the son of William Litherland and Stella Craig. Minnie Stallings is his stepmother. See Number 64234 for more information on Loren's father and mother. Loren grew up on the farm. He graduated from high school and attended the Nye Chapel United Brethren Church. Loren enjoyed farming and lived with his father and stepmother until his marriage.
Loren Litherland married Pluma Virginia Smith 19 March 1941 in Richland County, Illinois. Pluma was born 2 December 1921 west of Lancaster, Illinois. Her father was Dewey Lee Smith, born 1 April 1898 near Lancaster, Illinois, and her mother is Sylvia Grace Byram, born 28 April 1900 in Clark County, Ill. Dewey and Sylvia lived near Parkersburg, Illinois. Dewey was a farmer. He died 1 December 1972; burial at the Moravian Cemetery, West Salem, Illinois. He was a member of the Christian Church. Sylvia resides at Parkersburg and is a member of the Christian Church. Dewey and Sylvia Smith had six children: (1) Russell Lee, (2) *Pluma Virginia (Litherland), (3) Lowell Earl, (4) Lela Pearl (Williams), (5) Dewey, Jr., and (6) Tommy Sylvan. Pluma's grandfather was Levitt Bradley Smith, born 2 March 1866 near Lancaster, Illinois, and her grandmother was Anna Laura Seibert, born 24 September 1871 near Lancaster, Ill. Levitt was a farmer and insurance agent for the Prairie Farms Insurance Company. He died 9 September 1956 and Anna died 8 January 1950; burial at the Moravian Cemetery, West Salem, Illinois. Loren and Pluma live on their farm one-half mile south of where Stoltz School was located and one-fourth mile east. Loren and Pluma are members of the Nye Chapel Church. Loren is trustee of the Gards Point Cemetery and is a strong supporter of Nye Chapel Church. Loren and Pluma had three children.

Harmon George Stoltz was born 18 November 1881 near Golden Gate, Wayne County, Illinois. Harmon was the son of Andrew Stoltz and Josephine Seitz. See Number 642. Harmon attended the Beech Bluff grade school, near his home. He helped his father on the farm until he was old enough to work at the carpentry trade. He worked in and around Fairfield, Illinois.
Harmon Stoltz married Emma Price Waggoner 4 April 1906 at Fairfield, Illinois. Emma Waggoner was born 21 November 1889 at Strasburg, Illinois. She was the daughter of William Henry Waggoner, born 1 July 1871 at Sullivan, Illinois, and Edith Atterberry, born 9 October 1873 at Olney, Illinois. William and Edith were-married 25 December 1888. After their marriage, they moved to the Oklahoma and Texas area. William and Edith Waggoner had nine children. They are not listed in order of age: (1) William Frank , born 19 December 1893 at Barnhill, Wayne County, Ill.; deceased (2) Twins; names not known; died young, burial in Wayne County, Illinois, (3) Della (Richardson), born at Barnhill, Illinois. Della, resides at Amarillo, Texas. (4) Elzie, born at Fairfield, Illinois. Elzie lived and died in Idaho. (5) Carol (Satterly); died in Kansas City, Missouri, (6) *Emma Price (Stoltz), (7) Harold H., born in Canadian, Texas 17 December 1909; died 9 February 1977 at Amarillo, Texas; burial-at Colonial Garden Memorial Park Cemetery, Amarillo, (8) Clyde, (9) Leona Margaret, born in Hennesey, Oklahoma. Leona was always called Margaret. She married a Phillip. William and Edith Waggoner later lived at Bentonville, Arkansas. Edith died 27 May 1930; burial at Bentonville. William died 25 November 1970 at age 99 years; burial at Memorial Park Cemetery, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Harmon and Emma Stoltz were divorced in 1930 or 1931. Harmon remarried and lived at Stillwell, Oklahoma, until after 1943. Later he went to Reno, Nevada. Here he and his son Ross homesteaded a mountain. Emma (Waggoner) Stoltz died 25 November 1970; burial at Memorial Park, Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Harmon Stoltz died 25 October 1963 at Perry Grove, Arkansas; burial at Dutch Mill, Arkansas. Harmon and Emma Stoltz had six children.

Lester Almon Stoltz was born 3 October 1907 near Golden Gate, Wayne County, Illinois is the son of Harmon George Stoltz and Emma Price Waggoner. See Number 6424. Lester lived on his father's farm at Bentonville, Arkansas, until he married.
Lester married Mary Chaisty-Mott 29 November 1930 in Arkansas. Mary was born 27 July 1907 at Fort Niagara, New York. Mary's father was Edward James Chaisty, born 9 October 1876 at Trenton, Massachusetts, and her mother was Mary Alicia Snell, born 18 August 1884 at Ft. Laramie, Wyoming. Edward Chaisty was a soldier in the United States Army. He died 22 August 1911; burial is at Taunton, Massachusetts. He was a member of the Catholic Church. Edward and Mary Chaisty had two daughters: (1) *Mary (Stoltz) and (2) Ruth Fern (Padgett) of Rockledge, Florida. Mary Alicia (Snell) Chaisty married second a Mr. Mott (full name not given). Mary's daughter, Mary Chaisty, then adopted the name 'Mary Chaisty-Mott'. Mr. Mott died in 1947. Mary Alicia Mott died 26 May 1959; burial at St. Louis, Missouri.
After their marriage, Lester and Mary Stoltz lived on a farm near Bentonville, Arkansas. In 1934 they left the farm and moved to St.' Louis, Missouri, where Lester owns and operates a hardware store. Mary is bookkeeper and secretary for the business. Lester is an avid sportsman. He and Mary have traveled extensively in the United States and Europe. They are members of the Catholic Church and reside at St. Louis, Missouri. Lester and Mary Stoltz had four children.

Francis was born on the farm in a picturesque old sycamore log bungalow. He attended school in Oakville, Missouri. In 1951 he graduated from Christian Brothers Military High School and attended St. Louis University for two years, majoring in commerce and finance. In 1953 Francis joined the U. S. Strategic Air Force and served for two years.
Francis Stoltz married Geraldine Rose Barbour 17 November 1956 in Missouri. Geraldine was born 24 April 1938 at Chicago, Illinois. She is the daughter of Vernon Dale Barbour, born 9 July 1904 at Lutesville, Missouri, and Estelle Rose Escappi, born 20 September 1909 at Chicago, Illinois. Vernon and Estelle Barbour reside at Affton, Missouri. Vernon is a retired painter. He and Estelle had two children: (1) *Geraldine Rose (Stoltz) and (2) Verna Mary.
Francis and Geraldine Stoltz live at St. Louis, Missouri. They are members of the Catholic Church. Francis helps to operate his father's hardware store as buyer and general manager. He is a fireman and is captain of the Mehlville Fire Protection District. Francis goes by the name ‘Joel’. He is an avid fisherman and big game hunter. Francis and Geraldine had five children all born at St. Louis, Missouri.

Jerry Stoltz married Verle G. James 17 July 1929 in Bentonville, Arkansas. Verle James was born 11 November 1902 at Portage, Ohio. Verle's father, William 'Will' James was born 21 November 1871 near Warren, Pennsylvania, and his mother, Gertrude Hartrum, was born 18 June 1872 at Center, Ohio. Will James was an oil well driller and boilermaker. He and his family resided at Sand Springs, Oklahoma. They had two children: (1) Gail V. and (2) *Verle G. Will James died 26 December 1947 and Gertrude died 30 April 1960; burial at Sand Springs, Oklahoma.
Verle and Jerry James first lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Verle was a construction engineer consultant. Later the family moved to Freeport, Texas.
Here Verle was employed by the Dow Chemical Company, and Jerry was employed as a stenographer at the same company. Verle and Jerry are members of the United Methodist Church. They reside at Freeport, Texas. Verle and Jerry James had three children.
