      Ethel Viola Highsmith was born 15 October 1909 near St. Francisville, Lawrence County, Illinois, is the daughter of Buren and Ada Esther (Stoltz) Highsmith. See Number 6415.
      Ethel Highsmith married Harold Alexander Painter 29 November 1928. Harold Painter was born 13 October 1902 in Wabash County, Illinois. Harold is the son of Isaac Painter, born 1 November 1855 near Cowling, Illinois, and Lucy Ann Beck, born 30 September 1872 at Petersburg, Indiana. Isaac Painter was a farmer. He died 18 October 1938 and Lucy died 2 February 1942; burial at the Bone Gap Cemetery, Edwards County, Illinois. They were members of the Methodist Church. Isaac and Lucy Painter had five children: (1) Mabel (Ingram), (2) Ruth (DeStefans), (3) *Harold Alexander, (4) Lester, and (5) Blaine.
      Harold and Ethel Painter lived first in Lick Prairie Precinct, Wabash County, Illinois. Some time around 1940 he became manager of Sherrill's Orchard at Cabbage Corner, Wabash County, Illinois. Later he became an employee of the State Highway Department and moved to Mt. Carmel, Illinois. Harold retained this position until his retirement. Harold and Ethel live at Mt. Carmel, Illinois. They are members of the Church of the Nazarene. Harold and Ethel had three children, all born in Wabash County, Illinois.
