    • 641111. William Howard Stoltz, born 27 March 1918 in Wabash County, Illinois. William was the fourth first son of a first son. He attended the Mt. Carmel public schools and was graduated from the Mt. Carmel High School in 1936. William was always called by both names, William Howard. William was drafted during World War II and served in the Pacific War Theatre. He was taken prisoner by the Japanese and sent to a military prison camp in the Philippine Islands, where he died in June 1942. He is buried in the American Cemetery just outside the city of Manila along with 17,000 other young American heroes.
