    • 6423. MINNIE RACHEL STOLTZ
      Minnie Rachel Stoltz was born 11 December 1879 in Lick Prairie Precinct, Wabash County, Illinois, is the daughter of Andrew Stoltz and Josephine Seitz. See Number 642. Minnie attended the Beech Bluff grade school and the Presbyterian Church at Old Union near her home.
      Minnie Stoltz married Percy Stallings 15 July 1899 in Wayne County, Ill. Percy Stallings was born 19 November 1878 at Poseyville, Indiana. Percy Stallings was the son of Moses Stallings, born 31 October 1851 in Indiana and Elizabeth Kight, born 11 July 1851 at New Harmony, Indiana. Percy's grandfather was William Stallings, born in 1815 in North Carolina and his grandmother was Mary Ann Johnson born in 1816. William and Mary Ann Stallings moved from North Carolina to Posey County, Indiana. William's father, Elisha Stallings fought in the Revolutionary War of 1775. About 1890 Moses and Elizabeth Stallings moved from Posey County, Indiana, to Jasper Township, Wayne County, near Fairfield, Illinois. Moses was an undertaker and furniture store owner. Moses and Elizabeth Stallings had ten children the first seven born in Posey County, Indiana: (1) Stella, born 31 December 1876, (2) *Percy, (3) Ernest, born 20 January 1882, (4) Elsie, born 21 December 1883, (5) Leslie, born 4 may 1886, (6) Arthur, born 19 August 1887, (7) William Thomas, born 31 December 1889. The last three children were born in Leech Township, Wayne County, Illinois: (8) Ralph Wilbur, born 6 May 1892, (9) Leonard, born 7 December 1893 and (10) Clyde, born 8 August 1897. Clyde died young. Elizabeth Stallings died 22 November 899; burial at Ebenezer Church Cemetery, Wayne County, Illinois. Moses Stallings married second Clara Frazer, a school teacher. Some time later the family left Wayne County and moved to near Conway, Missouri where Moses took up farming. Moses died 22 November 1899; burial at Conway, Missouri. Moses and Clara had no children.
      Percy and Minnie Stallings lived near Golden Gate, Illinois, on a farm in a log house about one-half mile from Minnie's father, Andrew Stoltz, who gave her the land when she married Percy. Percy was a carpenter and built the log house they lived in. Percy was also a water-well driller and a saw mill operator. Percy and Minnie had four children all born near Merriam and Golden Gate, Illinois.

      Minnie Rachel died of an infection secondary to the mumps 25 May 1905; burial at Union Cemetery, Wayne County, Illinois. Minnie Rachel Stallings was a member of the Ebenezer Methodist Church. Upon Minnie's death, all four of her children were taken by her parents, Andrew and Josephine Stoltz, to care for. The children stayed with their grandparents for about a year and a half until their father remarried.
      Percy Stallings married second Mary May Stoltz 11 November 1906 at her father's home in Lick Prairie Precinct, Wabash County, Illinois. Mary Stoltz was born 29 June 1880 in Wabash County, Illinois. She was a first cousin to Percy's first wife. Her parents were Jacob Stoltz and Hattie Dixon. See Number 6491. Mary attended Stoltz School and Nye Chapel Church.
      Percy and Mary Stallings stayed in Wayne County, Illinois, until 1911 when they moved to near Albion, Illinois, and eventually moved to Friendsville Illinois. Here Percy and his brother operated a machine shop and garage for automotive repair. Percy and Mary Stallings had six children: (1) Ernest Ezekiel, born 30 October 1909 in Wayne County, Illinois, (2) Stella Izola, born 13 May 1911 near Albion, Illinois, (3) Hattie Gladys, born 23 June 1912 near Albion. Hattie died 1 February 1919 during the flu epidemic; burial at Gards Point Cemetery, Nye Chapel Church, Wabash County, Ill. (4) Beulah Opal, born 17 March 1914, Wabash County, Illinois, (5) Roy Percy, born 16 August 1915, Wabash County, Illinois, and (6) Mary Lucille, born 14 June 1917 in Wabash County. Mary died 11 October 1917; burial at Gards Point Cemetery. Mary (Stoltz) Stallings died 3 January 1946; burial at Highland Cemetery, Mt. Carmel, Illinois. See Number 649, Jacob Stoltz, for Mary and Percy's lineage. Percy died 21 December 1952; burial at Highland Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Carmel, Illinois.
